You can express yourself in less than a second through social media, but it will never compare to the truest and oldest form of human expression. Music making.
What a powerful statement! It made me think: Is there a way social media could ever compare to/ incorporate music making? For example, wouldn't a website that allowed users to share excerpts, recordings and performances to a "News Feed" style feature effectively accomplish that goal? I do not necessarily think it would. One of the only ways to experience the true affect of a piece of music is to hear it live. In my hypothetical situation, that would not be possible.
